About Me

About Me?

Well, what important things are there to report about me? Hmm? Your own life always seems so common and almost boring to yourself, so let me just fill you in on a few details for you to get a bit of a picture.

I am German nationality (if you saw one of my videos I am sure you’ve picked that up), but I am living in Cape Town, South Africa for the past 7 years. My little family consists of myself, my husband Stephan and our 3 year old daughter Susi Lou.

I have graduated in Chemical Engineering and am working full-time in this job. I am interested in any natural health alternatives, natural weight loss, general fitness and well-being.

I have started this blog to compile information about weight loss and to help people losing weight the way it worked for me.

My weight loss story

As this is a weight loss blog, you obviously want to know my experience about losing weight. Well, here it is:

I was never seriously obese, so don’t expect here a story about me losing 60 pounds in 60 days or so. I was off my average weight by 10 pounds, no big deal?

Well, I was off my goal weight (which I never really had at those times) by 20 pounds. When I finally realized the need to lose those pounds, I struggled for 3 or 4 months to lose any weight, apart from the one or two pounds off and back on again. But nothing had worked consistently.

Rather accidentally I found out that to successfully lose weight I had to change myself. Looking for the next diet scheme with big promises or any magic pill didn’t work, it was when I started to apply some rather psychological methods to remove some stumbling blocks and keep me motivated that I started to see success.

So I dug further into that direction, used goal cards and motivational tricks and the most effective method for me was developing a weight loss mantra which always reminded me of my goal and pushed be back into that direction.

After applying these methods, weight loss got easy, well at least a lot easier. Of course, initially there were still struggles and I didn’t stick perfectly to my new way of eating, but those troubles got less and less and then it was rather the exception.

I lost those 20 pounds over a period of about 6 months. That is probably no speed record, but the speed of weight loss obviously depends on how big the calorie deficit is that you create.

In the end speed didn’t matter. When you have achieved your weight loss goal and look back, it doesn’t matter if you started 3 months ago or 6 months, or even 9 months or longer. Look back 6 months from today, what if you had applied these methods then and had lost 20 pounds by now? That is probably more than you did lose during that time!

But the best part was that for the majority of that time I didn’t even think of me being on a diet because it was just the way I was eating anyway. How cool is that? The only regrets I had was that I hadn’t done it years before!
