Best Way to Lose Abdominal Weight!
Losing abdominal weight seems to be of importance especially when the holiday season approaches and we are planning to spend some time on the beach. One thought about our bikini and how attractive we might look, and there we are, starting to search for the best way to lose abdominal weight!
Abdominal weight loss myth:
To actually find the best way to lose abdominal weight, we first have to clarify some myths about getting a slim midsection. The biggest myth is special exercise that is supposed to reduce your belly like abdominal crunches etc. Many people have put in much effort and done these exercises religiously only to get frustrated with the lack of the desired results! Maybe you also have been one of them? Fitness and weight loss experts know that you simply can not spot reduce fat with exercises!
Exercise builds muscles!
What exercise does, depends on the type of exercise. Low intensity cardio, where you stay in the aerobic range, is a good fat loss exercise. But it reduces the fat allover the body. High intensity interval training (HIIT) can achieve the same results with an allover shorter training time (e.g. 20 mins interval training might burn the same calories as 40 min cardio).
Strength training builds muscles depending on what muscle groups you worked on. So what happens when you do hundreds of abdominal crunches or other abdominal exercises? These exercises build muscles! BUT β underneath your abdominal fat layer! And nobody will see these nice muscles!
Nutrition is the key:
The best way to lose abdominal fat is to reduce the body fat with diet! Nutrition is the key component here. You have to create a calorie deficit to achieve this. The easiest way to do this is to cut out all sugars and simple carbohydrates and also to reduce complex carbohydrates while eating more protein, which will keep you feeling full. This is how the leanest people get their results β bodybuilders! They generally never were my role model (to many muscles for my taste), but when you think about it, they are lean!
Although nutrition is crucial for reducing fat in your body, one also has to make mention of the fact that dieting (eating less calories than you burn) leads to an overall fat loss in the whole body. There is unfortunately no way to only lose abdominal weight. No magic pill and no super food can achieve this! Even worse, the abdominal fat is usually the last one to come off! But maybe that’s why we consider somebody being in perfect shape only when their midsection is slim. Your belly shows if you have made it or if there is still fat left that needs to be covered up!
Conclusions:
The best way to lose abdominal weight is to focus on general nutritionally based fat loss strategies. And if you want ripped abs, you first have to get rid of your belly fat layer, only then building your abdominal muscles with specific exercises makes sense and the acquired muscle mass can be seen. But then you really can show off on the beach!
How can you use this information?
An easy way to lose body fat is to create new eating habits. In the beginning you might crave the food that you are used to eat, but once your healthy diet is established, your weight loss is truly on autopilot!

Very good post. Many people usually make the same mistake – they do hundreds of abdominal crunches or other abdominal exercises wanting to lose their belly fat… As you mentioned, these exercises only build muscles underneath their abdominal fat layer. Before doing it people should read more useful information like it is written in your article! Thanks!

It truly is amazing the lack of knowledge people have in an area where people should be thriving to absorb information. I enjoy your piece here, it is very true that most people do not understand the difference between building a flat stomach and the road you should take to get there. Informative Post
I truly enjoyed your post here. just to do the cardio workout wont go anywhere, is only build fake mucsle under the fat layer. Nutrition is sub part to build mucsle to promo grow for the gain flat and bigger body.

Great informational post! I would have carried on with the situps and crunches if not for reading this. Muscles lines are starting to get visible on my stomach, BUT i realised their under my fats!!
The problem is, when i turn side ways to look into the mirror, my lower abdominal fats are the same distance vertically drawn down from my boobs, literally! (My boobs aren’t flat btw)
What makes matters worse is that my belly is always bloated and hard, probably due to large stools every 3-4days. Sorry for the gruesome details.
How do i lose these fats the natural way? I have tried the following so far:
1) Lowering calorie intake (which in turn resulted in an overall body weight loss excluding the belly completely).
2) Running/cycling (results same as mentioned above, PLUS built muscle in my legs which are now disproportional to the rest of my body).
3) Multiple situps and crunches
4) Occasionally take in more fluid to keep my stomach full and belly appearing less buldgy (but it works only slighty or perhaps not at all).
None of my methods stated have worked. I have cut down on refined grains and occassional caffeine intakes, increased vegetables and water
I’m at loss. I am still a teen, turning 16 in a few months and don’t want to deprive my body of it’s nutrient requirements for growth and development. Is attaining a flat stomach even possible??
Reply would be deeply appreciated:)
Abigail, it looks like you have a digestive problem, maybe a food allergy or intolerance, or candida? It is probably best to check with a GP or nutritionist. You could also try “food combining” and see if it makes a difference. Once your digestive problem has been sorted out, have another look at fat loss. I think you were on the right track as you said lowering calories and running/cycling helped. Often fat loss starts in the upper body making the overall appearance even worse when you need to lose belly fat. Just keep at it and the tummy will follow! Unfortunately genetics determine where we put on weight first and it’s the same spot that we lose weight last, but still also that fat can be lost!
