Nobody really wants to count calories, however it simply is necessary when you really want to lose weight, at least do it for a while to learn the calorie content of most of the foods that you eat. This will save you some diet frustration and discouragement why yet another diet has not really worked. Make sure you stick to your calorie limit and track your daily calories!

So, let tracking your calories to lose weight be as easy a possible and use this software application which comes with a huge build-in database providing nutritional data and caloric value of many foods.

After installing the software, you are prompted to fill in your data into the “user set up” for the program to calculate your daily calories needed for weight maintenance. To make sure not to overestimate your daily calories, I suggest you choose “low activity” in this set up. Should you do any exercise these extra calories burned will speed up your weight loss.

In the “diet set up” you may choose a diet program that you want to go on (or just leave it at custom diet) and you can set your daily calorie limit. The calorie tracking software shows you here already your calorie maintenance level. To lose one pound per week, you need to go 500 calories under that level.

Daily Calorie Log

In the main menu you can log your daily calorie as meals. Select the “food database” tab and double click to open or close the relevant food group folder, select the food item you are looking for then choose below the portion size. In case of doubt go for “gram”, weigh your food and fill in the weight. Make sure you hit “return” for the total calories to adjust and then click “add” to add this food to the meal you have marked. Proceed accordingly with the next food item for that meal.

Setting up Custom Foods

Select the “custom food” tab and click on “create custom food”. Name your food, create a portion size and fill in the nutritional values and the calories for that portion. Click on “Save” and you have added your favorite salad sauce, or whatever, to the custom food tab.

Creating Custom Meals

In your daily overview you are logging the calories per meal, for example cornflakes plus milk and an orange juice. This combination of foods can be saved as a “custom meal” (mark that meal in your daily overview, select the custom meals tab and click “save meal”, name your meal) and if you are have the same breakfast a few days later you simply add it from saved “custom meals” (select custom meal tab, mark that meal, and click “add meal”) and you are done.

Once you have set up and saved the most common meals you are eating, you are able to log your daily calories in seconds! This way you can always make sure that you stick to your calorie limit and lose weight according to your plan.
