Stephan's diet wisdom: "Eat less, move more!"

Weight Loss is a Simple Process

Nowadays there are so many people trying to lose weight. Every second women’s magazine contains a “new” 7 day diet on a monthly basis. The weight loss topic always seems to be hot and getting hotter the closer we get to summer and the holiday season.

The 3 step weight loss formula

Losing weight is no rocket science, so why are we still battling with it so much? To lose weight you simply need to

  1. eat less

  2. move more

  3. stick with it until you reach your goal weight

You don’t need a university degree to do it. So, the knowledge WHAT to do to lose weight does not seem to be the problem, it is simple. But then, being simple and being easy it not the same. We are getting closer to the actual problem!

Weight loss is a simple process,

but it is not easy to do. At least for most of us.

Funny enough, people who are battling to lose weight and claim to have tried nearly every diet on the planet with no avail, are still looking for the next fad diet scheme that provides them with just another funky meal plan. And when they still don’t lose those extra pounds, it means that this diet also didn’t work. Again!

Well, only that it would have worked had they done everything according to that diet scheme. All diets are based on the same universal concept.

Remember:

Losing weight is a simple process: eat less – move more – stick with it

The process is not the problem, the problem is DOING that process.

But still, we are rather twisting the variables of the process itself. Should I eat carbs, or not or rather low GI, are good fats really good or just not as bad, maybe calorie cycling is the solution or intermittent fasting seems to be the latest trend. And that combined with “exercise” machines that simply shake off our excess fat and we are in dieter’s heaven …

… and we may even be at our goal weight two weeks later! More likely though, we have given up on that oh so promising new weight loss approach and looking for consolation on the bottom of an ice cream family package.

Just a suggestion if I may:

Should we not rather be looking for options how we can make this simple process more doable? How we can keep our motivation to continue our diet for as long as needed, how to increase our determination to go through that process? May be we can find a way to make it a bit easier, but we still have to DO it ourselves, day in day out.

Stop cheating on yourself – stop looking for a way around!

Accept that you need to DO your diet to lose weight, look for ways to increase your motivation and determination and feel good being on diet earning that dream figure of yours!

And then – just do it!
