What do you love about exercise?
Really, what do you love about exercise? I mean what pleasurable sensations do you get or experience while you exercise, any kind of exercise???
I guess, most people can come up quickly with a list of things that they hate about exercise. I know, it’s exhausting, tiring, you actually have to do something and break into a sweat and the worst is to get up and going at all! If that is you, no wonder you are dreading exercise!
Possibly you should pay closer attention to what is nice about exercise.
Nothing? You are purely doing it for burning calories?
There is always something nice and some good feeling involved and if you don’t focus on them you are making it harder for yourself than it actually needs to be.
Once you are aware of the positive side of exercise and consciously focus on that side, it not only makes burning calories much easier for you, you are also more likely to exercise more often, you will work out longer and you will looking forward to your next exercise time – heck, you might even get addicted to it!
Imagine that, addicted to fat loss…
I like running, well I like these things about running, even more precisely, I love these positive experiences while I am running:
- getting out and breathing fresh air
- time just for myself without being disturbed
- the light and the colors of the mountain (Table Mountain) depending on the time of the day
- the smell of he sea ( I run along the beach promenade)
- the calming sound of the waves
- when I can spot whales or dolphins, but it’s not too often
- the feeling of my warmed up muscles
- the taste of a mixture of sun screen and sweat (I guess it reminds me of spending summer on the beach)
- the spring flowers in the dunes (don’t know how they survive on just sand with an occasional drop of water)
- when people smile at me
- my body being able to run
- being alive, right here and now!
The next time you exercise, pay attention to what you like while you are doing it and let me have your list on what you love about exercise in the comments!

I love exercise it will help us build the body we want. The best way to burn fat fast is to do HIGH intensity workouts for a short period of time, like 15-20 minutes three days a week. You need to look for exercise that make you MOVE. Not just back and forth, but also side to side. Proper diet is also needed.
Exercise can be either boring or fun.
I try to have fun and get exercise at the same time.
One way to do that is to play tennis.
Tennis is fun for me and the amount of running I do during one match is a distance that would be impossible for me to cover by just running from point A to point B and having no other reason than exercise for it.
Playing tennis makes me forget about the drudgery of exercise because I enjoy the game.
Jumping on a rebounder to upbeat music that I like is another fun form of exercise. The advantage is that it can be done at home and in any kind of weather.
That’s exactly the way to go! And a tennis match should not only burn quite some calories but you also get a good afterburn!
And a trampoline is always fun! I just can’t do it for long.
Hi there,
I agree with you 100% when you say that people dread exercises because all they think about is the pain, the sweat and tears!
I have to say that I absolutely love running! Sure, sometimes I want to scream when I am half way through and the legs start burning etc. but it is worth it. I always remind myself of how I feel afterwards. Once I jump in the shower after a good run, that is when I appreciate that I did not give up on my workouts for that day.
People just need to remind themselves of the rewards that they will reap afterwards!
